Conversations on Anti-Racism: Importance of Equity, Inclusion & Social Justice from Systems Change Lens

Conversations on Anti-Racism, a week of meaningful dialogue to amplify diverse voices & inspire better allyship, took place virtually on March 14 to 18, 2022. Every day had a different speaker and topic. Tuesday’s theme was Importance of Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice from Systems Change Lens, presented Candace Knoll. More about the speaker, Candace Knoll

Candace is a Life Member of ITC, (International Training in Communications) and a Past President of the Pacific Northwest Region.  She achieved her SC (Skilled Communicator) status and is a Certified Trainer in Public Speaking. Candace placed 3rd in the International Speech Contest in 2013 and has been part of the communications training team for the Miss BC Pageant for over 10 years.  She also conducted the public speaking training and was the Pageant Emcee for Miss Africa Vancouver in 2017.

Candace is a member of the United Steel Workers Local 1944 Unit 51, a Past Chair, a Shop Steward, a Councillor, member of the Local Civil and Human Rights, and Bargaining Committees, as well as a member of the United Steel Workers National Anti-Racism Working Group.

She is a New West & District Labour Council Delegate, a former Board member, a Political Action Committee member, a Joy Langdan, Women in Leadership Scholarship recipient and a 2020 Elsie Award Winner. Candace has over 20 years of extensive labour training.

As Treasurer for the National Congress of Black Women Foundation, and a member of Anti-Racism Coalition of Vancouver, Candace is passionate about taking the skills she’s attained to educate and promote advancement for the betterment of her community by re-establishing the JR. Black Achievement Awards.
